This blog is mainly about New Zealand but also photography in general. We love taking pictures of different attractions and destinations!

Queenstown

After having a great weekend and tour with a family from Canada touring Rotorua and Waitomo, it’s time to head South to Queenstown.

It’s a private tour again and this time the group is much smaller. We will be staying in Queenstown for 2 nights, doing a day trip to Milford Sound, then we will spend 1 night at Mount Cook.

Fororecast looks all right and we hope for a great time down there!

Wild weather in New Zealand!

Very cold weather in New Zealand!

Snow, rain and high winds all over New Zealand! It’s very cold in Queenstown at the moment (picture you see above).

Hilton Hotel in Queenstown

Hilton Hotel in Queenstown

2 new hotels managed by the Hilton group have been opened in Queenstown: The Hilton Queenstown and the Kawarau Hotel. They are located side by side by Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown is the most visited place in the South Island and it’s definitely a very important achievement for the town to have such a major international chain of hotels offering high standard accommodation for its clients.

South Island Lake

If you are in Christchurch and want to drive to Queenstown you should do it via Lake Tekapo. You will also see Lake Pukaki on your way. The views are amazing! You will be driving and stopping for pictures every 10 minutes!

Things to do in Queenstown

Boat in Queenstown

Queenstown is known for its variety of extreme sports on offer. People get really busy doing bungy, sky dive, etc. But if you wish to have a break and have some relaxing time I do recommend the steam boat. Prices range from just a simple tour around Lake Wakatipu to a full visit to a local farm where a fantastic lunch is also included.

After the huge storm we had last night here in Queenstown one could never forecast the great day we are having today! Lot’s of people by the Lake Wakatipu enjoining a great day out!

Queenstown is the most visited place in the South Island and is famous for the extreme sports on offer. From Bungy Jump to Sky Dive…you choose!

I’m having a day off and a bit later have to prepare all the gear to carry on with the tour. We are off to Dunidin tomorrow morning. Keep you posted.
